Groom and In-Laws Fined for Beating Bride’s Secret Lover
In a bizarre wedding night twist, a Bulawayo groom, Mbongeni Moyo, and his in-laws were sentenced for assaulting the bride’s secret lover after discovering their illicit affair.
The drama unfolded when the bride, Sisasenkosi Mpofu, vanished shortly after the ceremony, only to return home drunk near midnight. She confessed that her lover, police officer Geshom Gwatiringa, had given her wine, leaving her unaware of what transpired. Suspicious, Moyo scoured her phone and uncovered romantic messages between the two.
Furious, the groom enlisted his in-laws, Allen Munhuru, Prosper Ndlovu, and Fungai Mpofu, and stormed Gwatiringa’s home. Finding him in bed with his wife, they confronted him, displayed the incriminating chats, and dragged him to the police station, allegedly assaulting him along the way.
Gwatiringa filed charges of attempted murder, but the court reduced them to assault due to insufficient evidence and lack of severe injuries. The magistrate fined the quartet $300 each, warning them against future violent offenses. Groom and In-Laws Fined for Beating Bride’s Secret Lover
