The government has launched a National Youth Empowerment Strategy aimed at providing young people with access to skills development, entrepreneurship opportunities, and vocational training.
The strategy was unveiled at the inaugural National Youth Empowerment Symposium.
This comes as the government seeks to address challenges facing the youth, including unemployment, limited access to finance gaps in digital literacy.
The strategy focuses on five areas: economic empowerment, technology and digital transformation, education and skills development, health, and governance.
Speaking at the symposium, President Emmerson Mnangagwa said:
“The youth of Zimbabwe are valuable national assets. Your perspectives, ideas, and energy are important to drive development.

“I encourage you to develop your skills and explore opportunities that will benefit both yourselves and the country.”
He highlighted the importance of digital skills, stating:
“We are living in a digital era where skills in technology, artificial intelligence, robotics, and digital content creation are essential.
“Young people must prepare to participate in the modern economy and create jobs for themselves and others.”
The strategy will involve collaboration between the government, private sector, and civil society to ensure opportunities reach youth across communities.
Vocational training institutions will be upgraded to match industry needs, and initiatives will be introduced to support entrepreneurship and access to finance.
