Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the incident, stating that Sandra and Nixon were at home when an argument over infidelity escalated.
“At around 3:00 AM, the couple was involved in a dispute concerning marital infidelity. In the heat of the moment, Sandra struck her husband on the back of the head and forehead with a small black Kango cooking pot. The blows caused deep wounds, leaving him seriously injured,” said Insp Chakanza.

Arrest & investigation
Following the tragic incident, police, along with the Criminal Investigations Department (Homicide Unit), visited the crime scene and arrested Sandra. The cooking pot used in the attack has been seized as evidence and will be presented in court.
Nixon’s body has been taken to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Inspector Chakanza urged the public to seek peaceful conflict resolution methods rather than resorting to violence, which often leads to tragic consequences.
“We encourage couples to seek mediation from community leaders, churches, or the police rather than resorting to violence. These incidents leave children orphaned, with one parent arrested and the other deceased. The law does not spare perpetrators of violence.”
