Funeral Home Operator Poses as a Dead Man’s Wife, Forges Will & Stole $2.2M Estate

Funeral Home Operator Poses as a Dead Man’s Wife, Forges Will & Stole $2.2M Estate – A Texas funeral home operator has been arrested after prosecutors alleged that she fraudulently obtained control of a deceased man’s estate valued at nearly US$2.2 million.
Unique Green, 47, who operated A Community Funeral Home in Houston, faces charges including theft of more than US$300 000 and multiple counts of forgery, according to court records.
Prosecutors allege that Green submitted fraudulent documents following the death of 78-year-old Lawrence Gammon in June 2025.
Investigators claim that Gammon’s family had hired the funeral home to handle his funeral arrangements and provided Green with personal information needed for the process.

Authorities allege that weeks later, Green presented a disputed will claiming she was Gammon’s spouse and sole heir, allowing her to gain access to his estate.
Prosecutors further allege that she accessed his bank accounts, opened an estate account using falsified documents and obtained control of his assets, including three vehicles.
A will filed in Harris County reportedly stated that Gammon had left his estate to Green, describing her as his long-term partner and common-law spouse.
Harris County District Attorney’s Office consumer fraud chief Adam Brodrick criticised the alleged actions.
“When we bury a loved one, we cry together, we smile together, we laugh about good times, and we remember a life well lived. Green has effectively robbed this family of that experience.”
Investigators also reportedly raised concerns over the operation of the funeral home, including claims that some families had waited extended periods to receive the remains of loved ones.
Green was granted bail while the case proceeds through the courts.
Authorities have stressed that the allegations remain subject to the legal process.
