Four Bodies of Suspected Missing South African Police Officers Pulled from Hennops River

Four Bodies of Suspected Missing South African Police Officers Pulled from Hennops River – The search for three missing South African police officers took a grim turn on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, after four bodies were recovered from the Hennops River in Centurion, near Tshwane.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the identities of the deceased, but there is growing speculation that three of the bodies could belong to the missing officers: Constable Boipelo Senoge (20), Constable Cebekhulu Linda (24), and Constable Keamogetswe Buys (30).

The trio vanished on Thursday, April 24, while traveling from the Free State through Gauteng en route to Limpopo.

Their last known location was a petrol station near the Grasmere toll gate along the N1, where they were seen in a Volkswagen Polo hatchback (registration JCL 401 FS).

Shortly after leaving the station, their vehicle’s tracking device and cellphones were mysteriously switched off.

National police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe confirmed that investigations had led officers to the Hennops River and that, as of midday Tuesday, three bodies had been recovered.

A fourth body was later pulled from the water, and the search continues for additional evidence.

“We are still in the process of identifying the bodies,” said Mathe.

“The search operation remains ongoing as we seek to resolve the disappearance of our members.”

The South African Police Service is working in collaboration with private security firms to piece together what happened.

On Sunday, National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola announced a R350,000 reward for any information leading to the whereabouts of the missing officers or those responsible for their disappearance.

“We are determined to uncover the truth and bring those involved to justice,” Masemola said during a press briefing in Bloemfontein.

Investigations continue as families and colleagues await confirmation and answers.
