Her guilty plea is part of a deal in which she agreed to testify against Dennis Perkins, 44, who is facing numerous charges of child s£xual @buse and is awaiting trial.
Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry stated that Perkins waived her right to appeal, ensuring that her victims would not be subjected to the trauma of a trial. “Today’s conviction is in the best interest of our victims and justice,” Landry said.
Perkins resigned from her teaching position following her 2019 arrest, which came after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children tipped off authorities. A subsequent raid on the couple’s home uncovered disturbing evidence, including illicit photographs and hidden cameras.
Dennis Perkins was immediately terminated from his law enforcement role. He remains in custody pending trial on multiple charges, including r@pe of a minor and possession of child pornography.
Officials have stated that they are committed to ensuring he is also held fully accountable under the law.
