Mbappé’s Transfer to Real Madrid in Doubt. French football star Kylian Mbappé’s expected summer transfer to Real Madrid may not materialize, as members of his entourage are reportedly unconvinced by the Spanish club’s offer. The Athletic reports that Mbappé was leaning toward a move to Real Madrid, but influential members of his entourage have expressed disappointment in the club’s proposal. In contrast, Paris Saint-Germain has offered Mbappé the chance to stay on his current salary, either short or long-term.

Real offer less than before

Reports suggest that Real Madrid’s offer is less than the one they proposed two years ago, which Mbappé turned down to stay at PSG. The earlier offer was a €26 million (£22.2m/$28.0m) salary per season, as well as a €130m (£110.9m/$140.1m) signing bonus. However, Mbappé’s current wage at PSG is €75m (£64.0m/$80.8m) net, before bonuses, which Real Madrid reportedly cannot match. Despite offering a less lucrative contract, Real Madrid’s president Florentino Perez hopes he can convince Mbappé to move to the Santiago Bernabéu.

Mbappé, now 25, has been courted by Real Madrid for over half his life. When he was 11, he toured the club’s facilities and trained with their Under-12 squad. Other clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool and Bayern Munich, were also interested in him at that time, but he chose to sign with AS Monaco instead.

Mbappé’s future remains unclear, as both PSG and Real Madrid have presented their offers, and he has yet to decide. His current deal with PSG is set to expire in June, leaving him free to discuss terms with other clubs. While Real Madrid was previously seen as the likely destination for Mbappé, it seems that the decision is not a foregone conclusion, and all the clubs can do now is wait.
