Pep Guardiola Responds To Viral Petition To Have Erling Haaland Banned From Playing In EPL

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has responded to a petition to ban Erling Haaland from the English Premier League.

A picture of the supposed petition to have the Man City striker banned from the premier league went viral this week after Haaland netted his third consecutive hat trick against neighbours, Manchester United, taking his goal tally to 14 goals in just eight appearances.

Following Haaland’s emphatic start to the 2022/23 campaign, fans felt that they had enough of the former Borussia Dortmund striker, who is now scoring for fun, breaking a series of long-standing records in the league.

The Change.org petition outlined that Haaland should be banned from EPL and be deported back to his former home since he is a ‘robot’.

“It’s just simply not fair. We can make a change. Now is the time for us people to act. This robot should not be allowed to carry on in our country,” reads the petition.

However, Pep Guardiola responded to the petition during the press conference on Friday.

After being asked for his opinion on the petition to have Haaland banned from football, Pep Guardiola laughed it off, saying it was a ‘good’ joke.

In other news, Man City will look to continue their unbeaten streak when they face Southampton on Saturday at home.
Currently, City are second in the log standing, having amassed 20 points.

The Blues, who aim to defend their 2021/22 title, are one point behind Mikel Arteta’s side, leading the pack with 21 points.

From the eight played fixtures, on-fire Arsenal have only tasted a single defeat suffered at the hands of Erik Ten Hag’s side, Man United.

Arsenal will be hosting Liverpool on Sunday.
