Florida Man Arrested for Killing & Eating Pet Peacocks – A 61-year-old Florida man has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty after allegedly killing, cooking, and eating two of his pet peacocks in a dispute with a neighbour.

According to an affidavit from the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, Craig Vogt was arrested on 23 September on a third-degree felony charge. Investigators said Vogt admitted to killing the birds because his neighbour continued to feed them, despite his objections.

Authorities reported that Vogt had written to the neighbour, warning her that he would kill more of his peacocks if she persisted. The affidavit stated:

“The man admitted to killing the bird by cutting the bird’s neck out of spite, then bleeding it out, and then later eating the bird after cooking it on a frying pan.”

While being transported to jail, Vogt allegedly told deputies that he intended to kill the rest of his peacocks upon release “to prevent anyone from taking them.”

The sheriff’s office did not immediately confirm the fate of the remaining birds. Court records showed no lawyer listed for Vogt at the time of his arrest.
