Five Sentenced to 205 Years for Brutal Murder Altogether

Five men have been handed a combined 205-year prison sentence for the brutal murder of Free State farmer Peterson Andrew, 65, at his Summerslie farm on July 23, 2023.

The convicted—Teboho Mothebedi, 22, Jabulane Ngcongwane, 44, Bheki Maphalala, 18, Lephosa Motaung, 26, and Siyabonga Khumalo, 22—were found guilty of murder, housebreaking, robbery, and abduction.

Police revealed that the men stole valuable items, including laptops, cameras, a cellphone, and Andrew’s Toyota Urban Cruiser. The farmer was forced into the car’s boot, driven to Tseseng in Qwaqwa, and tragically killed.

Each defendant received three years for housebreaking, 12 for robbery, six for kidnapping, and 20 for murder. Five Sentenced to 205 Years for Brutal Murder Altogether

Free State Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane hailed the sentences as proof of law enforcement’s commitment to justice, thanking all involved in securing the convictions.

“This sends a strong message: violent criminals will be held accountable,” Motswenyane affirmed.
