Five Hezy Motors Employees in Court Over Alleged US$155 000 Vehicle Import Fraud

Five Hezy Motors Employees in Court Over Alleged US$155 000 Vehicle Import Fraud – Five employees from Hezy Motors Logistics have appeared before the courts facing allegations of defrauding clients of more than US$155 000 through a suspected vehicle import scam.

The accused — Kelly Moyo (19), Melody Karakupa (29), Bridget Tanyanyiwa (27), Paidamoyo Sunhwa (25) and Pamela T. Zambe (35) — appeared before Harare regional magistrate Mrs Jesse Kufa facing charges of fraud as well as defeating or obstructing the course of justice.

The court granted each accused person US$200 bail and remanded the matter to June 26.

According to prosecutor Mr Rufaro Chonzi, the alleged offences occurred between January 1, 2025 and May 5, 2026. The court heard that the company allegedly advertised on social media claiming it had the capacity to import vehicles for clients despite allegedly lacking the ability to fulfil the orders.

Prosecutors further alleged that the accused persons acted in connivance with company director Hezel Mafu, who is reportedly being sought by police.

It is alleged that despite allegedly being aware that Mafu was wanted by authorities, the accused persons continued receiving instructions from him and allegedly carried on with the suspected fraudulent activities.

The court heard that several clients paid deposits for vehicles which were never delivered, resulting in a combined prejudice exceeding US$155 000.

The complainants in the matter are Julia Mude and 15 others.
