Fight erupts after food ran short at Indian wedding leaving six injured

In a bizarre incident, six people were injured in a fight that broke out at a wedding function over shortage of rasgullas in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, the police said.

The incident unfolded when a guest casually remarked about the insufficient quantity of rasgullas at the wedding in Agra. What started as a lighthearted observation quickly escalated into a full-blown brawl as attendees rushed towards the dessert table, sparking a frenzy of chaos.

The injured have been hospitalised and their condition is stable.

“Six people were injured in the incident and a case has been registered. Those who are in hospital are out of danger,” Shamsabad police station Station House Officer (SHO), Anil Sharma, said.

In 2017, a major brawl broke out between the groom’s side and the bride’s family over being served one rasgulla instead of two.

Such incidents continued, with one in October 2022 leading to a tragic loss of life during a fight over the shortage of sweets.

Wedding scuffles over rasgullas have not escaped the lens of social media. In December 2022, a video went viral on Instagram capturing a fight breaking out on stage during the bride and groom’s rituals. MM News
