ZVISHAVANE – FC Platinum midfielder Brian Banda died on Sunday in a tragic car crash along the Zvishavane–Bulawayo highway, sending shockwaves through Zimbabwe’s football community.

The 29-year-old was reportedly killed on the spot when the vehicle he was travelling in veered off the road.

FC Platinum confirmed the loss in a statement shared via their official social media platforms.

Banda began his top-flight career with Highlanders FC (Bosso) before joining FC Platinum in 2020, where he made an immediate impact in midfield.

During his spell at the Zvishavane-based club, he helped the side secure the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title and the Chibuku Super Cup.

He had also lifted the Chibuku trophy with Highlanders in 2019, making him one of the few players to win the cup with two different clubs.

According to ZBC, burial arrangements will be announced in due course.

His flair for unlocking defences with pinpoint passes earned him admiration from teammates and opponents alike.
