Father Jailed 30 Years for R@ping Daughter
A man from Nyabira, Mashonaland West has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after being found guilty of r@ping his own daughter on multiple occasions.
Regional Magistrate Letwin Rwodzi delivered the verdict, saying the evidence against the man was overwhelming and stressing that a parent’s role is to protect and guide not harm their children.
“The courts exist to safeguard minors and all vulnerable groups in society. A clear message must be sent that crime does not pay,” Rwodzi said firmly.
The man received 15 years for the first two counts and another 15 years for the remaining two, resulting in a combined 30-year prison term.
According to NewZimbabwe, the disturbing incidents began in April last year at the family’s home on Rainham Farm.
Prosecutor Loveit Muringwa told the court that the father returned home to find his daughter sitting on the floor.
He accused her of improper behavior during her time living with relatives in Masvingo and, in a fit of rage, forced himself on her.

Further incidents occurred in May and November.
On both occasions, the man reportedly gave the girl tablets and warned her not to speak about what had happened.
Although the daughter tried to tell her mother what she had endured, her claims were initially dismissed.
The final incident took place on March 16, 2025.
Deeply distressed, the girl followed her mother to the onion fields and shared her painful story once again.
In a statement to the court, the mother explained that she had previously been afraid to take action due to threats from her husband.
“I was afraid of the threats, so I took no action. But on 16 March, around 4pm, my daughter came to me crying that her father had r@ped her again.
“Disturbed, I called neighbours, who helped apprehend him.”
The matter was then reported to police, leading to the man’s arrest and conviction.
