A prominent farmer from Mvurwi, Norman Muchineripi Mutsigwa (72), was found dead under mysterious circumstances yesterday along the Mazowe-Centenary highway.
Mutsigwa’s body was discovered at the 41-kilometer mark of the highway, partially dressed, with a used condom lying beside him. His black Honda vehicle, registration number AFF-7957, was found nearby.
Mashonaland Central police spokesperson, Inspector Milton Mundembe, confirmed the incident and indicated that foul play is suspected. “We can confirm the case, but investigations are still ongoing. At this stage, we are suspecting foul play,” said Mundembe.
According to police, Mutsigwa had all his personal belongings on him, including US$270 in his pocket at the time of his death.
It is believed the farmer had been returning from Plot 56 Ometh Farm in Mvurwi, where he had been renting. Authorities are continuing their investigations to determine the exact cause and circumstances surrounding Mutsigwa’s death.
The discovery has left the local community in shock, as Mutsigwa was a respected figure in the area. Police are urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward.
