Farm & City Manager in Court Over US$10K Betting Spree

Farm & City Manager in Court Over US$10K Betting Spree – A 39-year-old area manager employed by Farm & City Private Limited, Justine Ngoshi, has appeared in court facing allegations of diverting over US$10 000 in company funds to gambling.

Ngoshi was brought before Harare provincial magistrate Mr Michael Mafukidze last Friday, where he was remanded in custody pending a full bail hearing.

Prosecutors allege that the funds in question were collected over several months, from July 31 last year to February 28 this year.

The money, amounting to US$10 200, had been entrusted to Ngoshi for the purpose of settling rental payments for the company’s Belgravia branch.

According to the State, the funds were supposed to be handed over to Sawyer and Mkushi Legal Practitioners. However, instead of fulfilling that obligation, Ngoshi allegedly diverted the money for personal use.

Investigations revealed that the accused is said to have spent the entire amount on betting activities, specifically the popular Aviator game.

The court heard that none of the misappropriated funds have been recovered to date.

The matter is set to continue as Ngoshi awaits his bail ruling.
