EFF Suffers Another Hard Blow
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has lost another prominent figure as former president of the Economic Freedom Fighters Student Command (EFFSC), Mpho Morolane, announced his departure from the party on Wednesday, September 4.
Morolane recently made headlines by endorsing Mbuyiseni Ndlozi as the best candidate to lead the party to victory in the 2026 local government elections. However, in a letter to the party’s secretary-general, he expressed his difficult decision to end his decade-long association with the EFF, stating, “My service to the organization has been with humility, integrity, and respect.”
He acknowledged that, despite disagreements, he never openly opposed the party’s positions on unauthorized platforms. Reflecting on his tenure as the first president of the EFFSC, Morolane said he endured many challenges but always maintained respect for the senior leadership.
Morolane thanked the EFF for contributing to his political and social development, emphasizing that his time as a member was invaluable. He noted that unpacking the lessons from his experience might one day fill the pages of a book.
While recognizing the unprecedented challenges facing the party, Morolane stated that his decision to leave brings both sorrow and joy. He asked that his choice be respected, accepting any backlash that might follow.
He concluded by saying that while the EFF has always felt like home, it is time for him to pursue a different path, not as an act of public opposition but as a step toward the continued fight for the dignity of African people.
