Don’t Fight Armed Criminals, Police Warn After Bulawayo Man Shot in Home Attack

Police have urged the public to avoid confronting armed criminals following a violent home invasion in Bulawayo that left a 33-year-old Pelandaba West man critically injured.
The warning comes after the resident was shot multiple times while attempting to wrestle a pistol from one of two intruders who broke into his home in the early hours of Thursday.
Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said the attack occurred at around 2:35am on 29 January.

According to police, the victim was awakened by the sound of metal being cut.
When he went to investigate, he found two men using a bolt cutter to remove the security bars on his kitchen window.
The suspects forced their way inside, triggering a struggle that ended in gunfire.
“The complainant wrestled with an accused person who was holding a pistol.
“This resulted in the accused shooting him in the inner thigh, his back, his arm, and his hand,” Msebele said.
The gunmen fled immediately after the shooting.
Police are still determining whether anything was stolen during the raid.
The victim is receiving treatment at a local hospital and is reported to be in serious condition.
Police have opened an attempted murder and armed robbery investigation.
