Doctor Caught Having S£x With Nurse After Leaving Patient in the Middle of Operation

A doctor, originally from Pakistan but working in UK, is facing a tribunal after he left a patient under anesthesia to engage in sexual activity with a nurse, leading to serious questions about his professional conduct.

Dr. Suhail Anjum, a consultant anesthetist at Tameside Hospital in Ashton-under-Lyne, was caught in a compromising situation by a colleague who entered the operating theatre.

The incident occurred while a patient was undergoing surgery. After placing the patient under anesthesia, Dr. Anjum asked a nurse to monitor the patient’s condition while he took a “comfort break.”

Instead of remaining in the vicinity, he went to another operating room where he was found with Nurse C, whose identity remains confidential.

According to a nurse who discovered them, the nurse (referred to as Nurse C) was found with her trousers around her knees, while Dr. Anjum was in the process of adjusting his own clothing, BBC reports.

The colleague reported the situation to the tribunal, stating that they encountered Dr. Anjum and Nurse C in a “compromising position.” This break lasted around eight minutes, during which the patient remained unharmed and the surgical procedure continued without further incident.

Dr. Anjum did not dispute the facts of the case and admitted to engaging in sexual activity with Nurse C.

He acknowledged that he put the patient at risk but claimed he was experiencing a stressful time at home due to difficulties in his marriage following the premature birth of his daughter.

In February 2024, Dr. Anjum left Tameside Hospital and returned to Pakistan. However, he expressed a desire to return to the UK to practice medicine again.

He described the incident as a “one-off error of judgment,” stating, “It was quite shameful, to say the least. I only have myself to blame. I let down everybody, not just my patient and myself, but the trust and how it would look.”

The tribunal is currently ongoing in Manchester, and the panel must decide whether Dr. Anjum is unfit to practice due to misconduct.

The case has raised significant concerns about professional standards in the medical field and the responsibilities of healthcare providers.
