DNA Confirms Businessman Fathered Maid’s Child

Businessman Faces Rape Charges

A 57-year-old foreign businessman in Bulawayo allegedly raped his maid, a 27-year-old woman with PTSD and a mild intellectual disability, leading to her pregnancy. DNA confirms businessman fathered maid’s child.

The businessman, based in Kumalo suburb, will soon face trial in Bulawayo’s regional court.

The case was delayed after the state requested a psychiatric evaluation, which confirmed that the victim could not give consent due to her mental health condition.

Sources claim the businessman first assaulted the woman by sneaking into her unlocked bedroom. Afterward, he allegedly continued to sexually assault her weekly, entering her room at night or summoning her to his bedroom during the day. He threatened to fire her if she resisted.

When the businessman discovered the pregnancy, he fired her. The maid returned to her home and gave birth. Her family demanded child support, but the businessman denied paternity. A DNA test later confirmed that he fathered the child with 99.9% certainty.

After initially paying maintenance, he stopped, resulting in a court hearing. He claimed language barriers prevented him from understanding the proceedings. The court advised him to find an interpreter, and after his appearance, he resumed paying $60 per month. However, the victim’s family plans to request an increase in support, arguing that the current amount doesn’t cover the child’s needs.

The businessman denies all rape allegations, claiming the family is trying to extort him. Although his son, also accused of raping the victim, was acquitted, the family remains unhappy and plans to appeal.
