The bail hearing for Chillspot Records producer DJ Ribhe has been postponed to today after the State reported it could not locate the investigating officer. Ribhe has been in pre-trial custody for nearly a month and is seeking bail from the High Court.
The hearing was initially scheduled for yesterday but was delayed to allow the State to submit its response.
They requested another postponement, stating the investigating officer, believed to be off duty, is crucial for the case.
DJ Ribhe faces serious charges, including drugging and raping a 14-year-old girl. The victim, who lives in the same neighborhood, met him before they traveled to Mashwede Village with others.
According to the State, Ribhe manipulated the girl into consuming an unknown substance and smoking shisha.
He allegedly raped her at his home, and she regained consciousness the next day. After being missing for two days, she revealed the abuse to her father upon being found.
Justice Regis Dembure has adjourned the hearing to allow for the State’s response and the officer’s presence in court.
Ribhe’s lawyer, Advocate Silvester Hashiti, consented to the postponement.
