Dexter Nduna’s Parking Takeover Crashes
Forced to Apologize After CIO Intervention
Former Zanu PF MP for Chegutu West, Dexter Nduna, suffered a major setback in his attempt to seize control of vehicle parking management in Harare and other cities.
Nduna, using a company linked to him called Team Chapter, planned to take over parking operations from Harare’s City Parking starting Monday.
City Parking serves as a major revenue source for Harare City Council, and Nduna, now Zanu PF’s resource mobilization chair, aimed to grab it.
Last week, Nduna’s Team Chapter posted job ads on social media, asking unemployed youths to pay varying fees for training as parking marshals.
On Friday, he boldly declared on social media that his team would start managing parking in Harare.
However, sources reveal that the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) summoned Nduna and ordered him to stop his takeover.
By Monday, Nduna issued an apology on X (formerly Twitter), retracting his earlier post and admitting that the process had not followed the law.
“I removed the tweet about deploying Team Chapter operatives on October 7th because it didn’t fully comply with the law,” Nduna stated, apologizing for the confusion.
City Parking quickly warned motorists not to fall for Nduna’s marshals, clarifying that the city had not engaged Nduna or any other entity to manage parking fees.
They called Nduna’s actions a threat to the city’s businesses and property laws, and vowed to take legal action.
“Nduna’s behavior taints the image of both the government and Zanu PF,” City Parking stated. “He has no legal standing, and the public should avoid making any payments to him or his agents.”
Nduna’s failed parking scheme follows another embarrassment where he falsely claimed to have graduated from the University of Zimbabwe law school.
He had failed his exams and tried to pressure the faculty into giving him a pass.
