Desperate cleaner nabbed over theft

IN a desperate attempt to supplement his income, a 25-year-old man from Gwabalanda suburb in Bulawayo, employed as a cleaner at a local club, was arr£sted for allegedly stealing a toolbox and a car battery worth US$250.

 

Makhosini Mogonya appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Maxwell Ncube facing a charge of theft.

 

He was not asked to plead and was remanded out of custody to 27 November on US$30 bail.

 

Allegations against Mogonya are that on 11 November at around 4am, he broke into a car belonging to Diamond Gudo (40) that was parked at a club in Bulawayo.

 

Gudo was then approached by his brother Gerald Shoko who informed him that his car had been broken into by Mogonya.

 

Shoko told his brother that he had already apprehended the suspect as he had found him searching the vehicle.

 

Gudo then went on to inspect his vehicle and discovered that his car battery and tool box had been stolen. They then took Mogonya to the police leading to his arrest.

 

The stolen property was not recovered. B Metro
