Defending the defenseless:Mutoko father jailed 30 years for raping two daughters
MUTOKO – In a disturbing child abuse case, a-35-year-old Mutoko resident was sentenced to 30 years in prison by Mutoko Magistrate Court for the rape of his two biological daughters.
It is the State’s case that between December 2023 and March 2024, the accused person repeatedly raped his two biological daughters aged 7 and 5 on multiple occasions.
The court heard that, the accused person engaged in sexual intercourse with the two minor complainants on multiple occasions, specifically at night and early morning, prior to their departure for school and subsequently threatened them to refrain from disclosing the incidents to anyone.
In this case, the accused person is divorced from the complainants’ mother.
It is alleged that, on March 18, 2024, a local Councillor received an anonymous tip-off which led him to question the complainants. Following this inquiry, the complainants disclosed crucial information, ultimately resulting in the accused person’s arrest.
The accused person was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment on each count to serve an effective 30 years.
