According to the ZRP, the Trip Trans bus, which was carrying 36 passengers, allegedly attempted to overtake another vehicle before colliding head-on with a haulage truck.
Police had initially confirmed eight fatalities, but the number of deaths has since increased to 10 as investigations continue.
Authorities said more details surrounding the accident will be released in due course.
The tragic incident comes amid growing concern over the increasing number of fatal road accidents recorded across Zimbabwe in recent days.
Just two days ago, six people died in a collision involving a Honda Fit and a haulage truck near the Redcliff turn-off along the Harare–Bulawayo Road.
Last Saturday, another eight people, who were members of the Roman Catholic Church, lost their lives after a Toyota Noah plunged off the Deka River Bridge near Hwange while returning from an overnight prayer gathering.
