D’Banj Upcoming Concert Triggers Zimbabweans Affair With Afro Music

The best African Act award winner, Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, stage name D’Banj landed in the capital this afternoon ahead of his perfomance together with local musicians like Roki Josphats.

The award winning Nigerian Afrobeats singer’s visit has evoked a firestorm of responses, to the news of his upcoming event, making him one of the Nigerian artists to perform in Zimbabwe in recent times among other contemporaries like Burna Boy.

The response to the Oliver Twist hitmaker’s upcoming concert in Zimbabwe set for a date to be announced has brought the longstanding love the majority of citizens of this country have had for Afro music for years, back to the forefront.

“Welcome, feel at home African son.” said twitter user @CdeMfecane.

With some being uncharmed, they tend to argue his collaboration with Zimbabwean artists as a revival to his career since he has been missing in action with regards hits.

To add on to that, unlike Burna Boy who rejected the flag branded scuff, by accepting the gesture D Banj have sent the wrong signal to some music fanatics who are also political analysts with the likes of Lawyer Fadzai Mahere.

“Forget about Zimbabwean support when you insult us with your scarf. Hatiuyeko,” commented Mahere on Facebook.

“No longer listening to D’Banj music.” said twitter user @EmperorMutasa.

His visit has been facilitated by music promoter Passion Java.
