Cosmo City Shootout Leaves One Dead as South African Police Pursue Zimbabwean Fugitive Jabulani Moyo – A police operation in Cosmo City, north of Johannesburg, turned deadly on Saturday as officers intensified their search for fugitive murder suspect Jabulani Moyo, wanted for killing two detectives in August.
Gauteng police said one suspect was shot dead while another was arrested following a dramatic chase and shootout.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo said officers had received intelligence that a gang was preparing to commit business robberies in the Honeydew and Fairlands areas.
“This morning, they received information that the suspects were in the area. They then spotted two vehicles matching the description provided — a white Polo and a grey Audi,” he said.
As officers approached, the suspects reportedly jumped out and opened fire, resulting in an exchange of gunfire.
“During the exchange, two suspects jumped into the Polo while the others fled on foot,” he added.
Police pursued the Polo to Cosmo City, where another shootout occurred.
“There was another shootout here, during which the suspect was shot and killed,” Masondo said.
Another suspect was arrested inside the Polo.
Masondo confirmed that Moyo, who escaped from lawful custody earlier this year, is believed to have been among the group.
“We suspect he is one of those who escaped. Our members are still on the ground following up on intelligence, and we believe we will arrest them soon. For now, they remain on the run.”
He added that the slain suspect and the one arrested are both foreign nationals.
The DPCI (Hawks) is continuing its investigation into the August murders. “The main suspect, Jabulani Moyo, is still at large,” Masondo said.
