Commotion As Listeners Cut Winky D Songs & Politics From The Same Cloth

As Winky D is untimely dropping his songs from the recently launched album Eureka-Eureka, his fans are embracing the hits as some are expressing different sentiments, taking them for closer inspection citing how they are politically charged.

Attracting attention of politicians like Hopewell Chin’ono, the context has evoked many opinions, with the majority saying it’s giving voice to the censored and inviting human experience.

The International Anti-Corruption Award winner had this to say;

“This new Winky D song called Ibotso is slapping harder than any stuff produced in 2022.  It is a collaboration with Holy 10.  The song talks about looters who steal public funds using political power, and use the police for brutality with the help of spies.”

Chin’ono also went on to comment on the track from Winky D and Shingai Shonhiwa saying ,”Winky asks what are we leaving for the next generation. Shingai asks if this is the Zimbabwe many died for.”

“Music is powerful tool to influence public perception. Winky is part of the destabilization agenda. he’s now roping in vadiki. It’s all about elections loading..Every year before elections, winky d is sponsored to incite regime change agenda.” another twitter user @tendayizinyama aired his view.

In a tweet that stirred mixed reactions, @dereckgo said , “It’s foolish for Winky D to align himself with CCC politics today. His team isn’t looking ahead. Perceptions among the young urbanites who are his bas will shift within the next three years. After that what’ll be his selling point? He should look at Mapfumo’s career for lessons.”

“It doesn’t matter if his career will lead to Mapfumo’s situation. What matters is the message he is spreading. He is speaking for the voiceless because he has the platform. He is not a culprit. These people likes of Winky D Mapfumo are the Tongogara of our generation.” responded Twitter user @chavekuseva.

Despite criticism and different point of views, the fans have refused to make Winky D’s music something they see it’s not.

Here is what others had to say;

Twitter user @Brochevex, “No Wallace is not aligning himself to anyone’s politics. He aligns himself with the people’s lived realities. Any perceived alignment is a concidence. 3 years later he is still be singing lived realities and there won’t be any shift.”

“There’s nothing political about this album. Sit down. Everyone wants a better life. We have a rotten society because the economy is not functioning said Twitter user @Mukundi24.
