Chihota Teen Murd£rs Mother, Buries Nak£d Body in Maize Field – Police in Mashonaland East have arrested a 19-year-old man from Chihota under Chief Mudzimurema in connection with the murd£r of his mother, Tambudzai Maruza (52), who had initially been reported missing.

Mashonaland East provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Simon Chazovachii, confirmed that two suspects are now facing murd£r charges.

“Police arrested two men in connection with the murd£r in Chihota. The now deceased had been reported missing on February 13, 2026. The suspects are facing murd£r charges,” he said.

Investigations allege that Nelson Zinyoro struck his mother once on the head with an axe, leading to her d£ath.

He was taken into custody on Tuesday.

Police say he later enlisted the help of Gift Nyamadzawo (28) to move the body to a disused toilet in a maize field, where it was concealed. The pair are also accused of burning the victim’s clothes.

Authorities further revealed that the teenager allegedly retrieved keys to his mother’s bedroom and began removing household property with the intention of selling it.

Items reportedly taken include solar panels, an inverter, two cellphones and scotch-cart wheels.

Attempts to sell the goods within the village reportedly raised suspicion among residents, which ultimately led to his arrest.

Villagers expressed shock at the incident, particularly after it emerged that the suspect had participated in the search for his missing mother alongside his father and other community members.

One resident described the situation as deeply disturbing. “We are still in disbelief. He was part of the search team while knowing exactly what had happened,” the villager said.

Police investigations are continuing.
