Chevrons Target Revival After Naming 2026 T20 World Cup Squad

Zimbabwe Cricket has named a balanced Chevrons squad for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, marking the country’s return to the global showpiece after missing the 2024 edition.

The tournament, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, runs from March 7 to 8, with Zimbabwe drawn in a tough Group B alongside Australia, Sri Lanka, Ireland and Oman.

All-rounder Sikandar Raza will captain a side that blends experience and youth as the Chevrons target a strong comeback on the world stage.

Raza remains the heartbeat of the team, with seasoned campaigners Brendan Taylor, Ryan Burl, Graeme Cremer and Wellington Masakadza providing stability.

Youngsters Brian Bennett, Tinotenda Maphosa and Tadiwanashe Marumani are set to make their T20 World Cup debuts, underlining a clear shift towards rebuilding while remaining competitive.

According to NewZimbabwe, selectors opted for continuity and form, retaining a core group that has shown promise in recent international assignments while injecting fresh energy into the squad.

Zimbabwe will open their campaign against Oman before clashes with Australia, Ireland and co-hosts Sri Lanka. The top two teams from each group will progress to the Super 8, a realistic target for a side seeking revival.
