A Harare shop robbery was thwarted thanks to the bravery of a quick-thinking customer, resulting in the arrest of one suspect while his accomplice escaped. Caught in the Act
On November 17, 2024, Tawanda Chimuti (21) and an accomplice identified only as Munyuki targeted a shop at Chibwe Business Centre in Stoneridge Park. According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police, the pair stormed into the store, violently attacking the shop attendant before making off with $600 in cash.
However, their plan unraveled when a customer entered the shop mid-robbery. Reacting swiftly, the customer managed to subdue Chimuti on the spot. Munyuki fled the scene, escaping with part of the stolen money.
Police were called to the scene and arrested Chimuti, who remains in custody pending further investigation. A manhunt is underway for Munyuki, and authorities have appealed to the public for information that could lead to his capture. Caught in the Act
