Bum Lifts Leaves Hundreds of Women Hospitalized

Hundreds of women in the UK are being hospitalized due to botched cosmetic procedures from unregulated practitioners. These risky non-surgical enhancements have left many patients permanently disfigured.

The non-surgical enhancements, which involve injecting hyaluronic acid to alter the shape of the buttocks or breasts, can legally be performed by untrained individuals in the UK.

But data shows these risky “bum lifts” and breast augmentations are resulting in severe, lasting disfigurement for many patients.

One woman was placed in a medically-induced coma for four days. This was after a liquid butt injection went catastrophically wrong, while others have required extensive corrective surgery.

Monique Sofroniou, a 30-year-old aesthetics practitioner in London, recounted her own harrowing experience with a failed liquid bum lift procedure. “I was in the worst pain of my life,” she said.

“I woke up being really sick, the area was red and hot, and I had a high fever.”

Sofroniou spent a week hospitalized, underwent multiple emergency room visits, and endured months of excruciating pain before having dead skin surgically removed.

Experts are urgently sounding the alarm. Professor Sir Stephen Powis, national medical director for NHS England, warned the public to “avoid putting their lives at risk” by seeking these procedures from unlicensed providers.

“This clearly needs robust regulation,” Powis said.

“These types of procedures can have severe, life-changing, and even life-threatening consequences.”

With hundreds hospitalized, there are growing calls for the government to take immediate action and implement stricter controls over the cosmetic enhancement industry.

Lives are at stake, and decisive intervention is needed to protect public health and safety.
