Bulawayo Man Batters Sister in Clash Over Child’s Meal

A Bulawayo man has been thrown behind bars after allegedly assaulting his sister in a shocking outburst over leftover food she had reserved for her child.

Phillip Nkomo, (29) of Thokozani Flats in Mzilikazi suburb, appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Mr Abednico Ndebele charged with physical abuse.

The incident unfolded on October 1, when Nkomo reportedly tried to eat food his sister had set aside for her son, triggering a heated exchange that spiraled into violence.

The complainant refused to hand over the food, insisting it was meant for her child.

What began as a domestic disagreement quickly escalated, with Nkomo allegedly attacking his sister and leaving her with swelling around the eye and bruising on the forehead.

She later sought medical attention at Mpilo Central Hospital and filed a police report, leading to his arrest.

According to court documents cited by Chronicle, Nkomo showed no restraint during the assault.

He was remanded in custody and is expected to return to court on Friday.

The case has sparked concern over rising tensions in urban households, where minor disputes are increasingly turning into serious confrontations.
