Bulawayo Court Crushes Drug Syndicate With Five-Year Sentence

Tyron Siegfried Pigors, a 39-year-old resident of Matsheumhlophe in Bulawayo, has been sentenced to five years in prison for dealing in crystalmethamphetamine.
The Bulawayo Regional Court handed down the sentence following his arrest on March 6, when police recovered 1.2 kilograms of crystal meth valued at over US$6,000.
Pigors was initially given an eight-year term, with three years suspended on condition of good behaviour.
Acting on a tip-off, officers from the Zimbabwe Republic Police raided Pigors’ home and uncovered sachets of crystal meth hidden in deceptive containers — including a fake dictionary safe box under his bed, a biscuit tin, and a Puma shoe box stashed inside a trunk.
Investigators also seized two digital scales and a kitchen scale, believed to have been used to weigh and package the drugs.
“The police acted on information they received about the suspect dealing in drugs. They pounced on him at his residence, where they discovered the drugs in his bedroom.
“The confiscated substance tested positive for crystal meth,” said national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi.
Presiding over the case, Magistrate Sibonginkosi Mkandla ruled that Pigors’ actions posed a serious threat to society and warranted a custodial sentence.
According to ZBC, Pigors’ conviction forms part of a broader national crackdown on drug trafficking and substance abuse, which continues to devastate communities across Zimbabwe.
Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing to trace his supply network and identify possible accomplices.
The National Prosecuting Authority welcomed the ruling and urged citizens to report drug-related crimes, reaffirming the government’s commitment to dismantling the illicit drug trade and protecting communities from the scourge of substance abuse.
