Brendan Taylor Returns to Zimbabwe Squad After ICC Ban Ends

Brendan Taylor has made a full return to Zimbabwe’s national Test team for the ongoing match against New Zealand at Queens Sports Club.

His selection follows the conclusion of a three-and-a-half-year suspension imposed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) after admitting to breaching both the Anti-Corruption and Anti-Doping Codes.

With the suspension now behind him, Taylor’s reentry brings vital experience into the Chevrons’ squad during a high-stakes series.

According to ZBC, Taylor resumed training with the national team earlier this week, paving the way for his official reintegration and selection ahead of the first Test.

A veteran of 34 Test matches since his debut against Sri Lanka in 2004, the 39-year-old has consistently delivered on the international stage.

He has scored six Test centuries and 12 half-centuries, while his overall tally of 9,938 international runs places him third on Zimbabwe’s all-time scoring chart.

His 17 centuries across formats remain unmatched by any Zimbabwean cricketer to date.

Taylor’s return signals more than a personal comeback—it may serve as a turning point for the Chevrons’ ambitions on the global stage.

With renewed focus, discipline, and leadership, his presence could prove pivotal in lifting Zimbabwe’s competitiveness as they battle top-tier opponents like New Zealand.
