Borno Man Mutilates Himself After Wife Rejects Reconciliation
NIGERIA – In a deeply disturbing incident, a 50-year-old man in Bama, Borno State was hospitalised on Friday evening after allegedly stabbing himself multiple times and mutilating his genitals — reportedly distraught over his estranged wife’s refusal to return.
The incident occurred in Hausari Ward, where the man, identified as Modu Isa, allegedly inflicted three stab wounds to his stomach before severing his penis with a knife.
Eyewitnesses said residents rushed to the scene and alerted the police, who responded promptly.
Officers recovered the knife and evacuated Isa to General Hospital, Bama, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.
The case has since been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Maiduguri for further inquiry.
According to The Nation, Isa had divorced his wife, Bayanxe Modu, three times, and her refusal to reconcile is believed to have triggered the desperate act.
