BAIL DENIED: Norton duo accused of murdering suspected thief
HARARE – Two Norton men, Mike Dick (30) and Shingi William (36), were denied bail by the Harare Magistrates Court for allegedly murdering a man they mistook for a thief.
Dick and William appeared before Harare Magistrate Court facing allegations of murder as defined in section 47 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.
The State alleges that on November 1, 2024, Dick and William assaulted Robson Kifimesi, who later succumbed to his injuries at Sally Mugabe Hospital.
The court heard that the two men allegedly mistook Kifimesi for a thief as he wandered near the Darwendale fisheries around 10 pm.
The court further heard that Dick and William severely assaulted Kifimesi with logs, causing fatal injuries. They then handed Kifimesi over to the security guard at Aberdeen Farm in Norton.
The two accused persons were denied bail and will remain in custody until their next court appearance.
