Avenues Clinic Unveils World-Class Women’s Health Unit

The Avenues Clinic has taken another bold step in reshaping Zimbabwe’s private healthcare landscape with the unveiling of its refurbished Ward 2 North, a state-of-the-art obstetrics and gynecology unit.

The launch marks a key milestone in the hospital’s multimillion-dollar modernisation programme, now two-thirds complete.

“This is a journey we have begun, and we are moving towards it with purpose,” said General Manager Sibusisiwe Ndhlovu during the unveiling.

“Two-thirds of the wards in this hospital are now done. We are left with the third floor and our theatres. Health is not an easy business, but with patience and care, we’ll get there.”

The ward, dedicated to women’s health, pregnancy and childbirth, has been reimagined to combine cutting-edge clinical care with enhanced patient comfort.

It follows a string of earlier renovations to the surgical, medical, children’s, and private wards.

The final phase will include upgrades to maternity and neonatal intensive care.

Principal Nursing Officer Florence Ogwal said the transformation was not just about modern infrastructure.

“Besides having the best in nursing care, we also want to make sure the environment is a healing environment for our patients.

“We do not discriminate against our patients regardless of the package they have. Our clients are very important to us, and we strive to do it right the first time.”

She added that affordability and inclusivity remain central to the clinic’s philosophy.

“Our service is second to none in Southern Africa and watch this space because even open heart surgery is coming soon.”

With theatres already fully equipped and further renovations ahead, Avenues Clinic is positioning itself as a benchmark for clinical outcomes in the region while complementing government’s healthcare initiatives.

“When you are ill, you expect to be in as comfortable an environment as possible,” Ndhlovu said.

“That is our quest to deliver healing, comfort, and outcomes our citizens can trust.”
