“Attach DNA Results to Birth Certificates” – Hon. S. Tshuma Advocates for Change

In a significant move aimed at addressing paternity disputes and ensuring rightful inheritance, Hon. S. Tshuma has proposed a groundbreaking initiative that mandates DNA testing for newborns before the issuance of birth certificates.
During a recent session, Hon. Tshuma emphasized that attaching DNA results to birth certificates could provide solid evidence of parentage, thus resolving ongoing debates surrounding paternity.
“This initiative will not only protect the rights of children but also ensure that men are not compelled to support children who are not biologically theirs,” he stated.
The proposed legislation aims to clarify parentage at birth, which could have far-reaching implications for child support and inheritance rights.
In addition to advocating for mandatory testing, he called upon the Government to make DNA testing both affordable and accessible in hospitals.
He highlighted the necessity of equipping healthcare facilities with the appropriate testing machines, making it feasible for all parents to obtain accurate DNA results.
