Arsenal and Man United Share Points at Old Trafford

In a tense match at Old Trafford, Arsenal managed to secure a point against Manchester United thanks to a powerful strike from Declan Rice. However, the result did little to aid Arsenal’s chase of Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Arsenal played strongly in the first half but struggled to convert their chances. Just before halftime, United captain Bruno Fernandes took advantage of a defensive error and scored a free-kick from 25 yards, putting United ahead.

In the second half, Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya redeemed himself with impressive saves from Noussair Mazraoui and Joshua Zirkzee. With 16 minutes remaining, Rice found the back of the net with a powerful shot after United failed to clear the ball, leveling the score.

Despite this, Liverpool remains far ahead in the league, sitting 15 points clear of Arsenal, who have played one more game. Arsenal’s late-game defense was tested as Raya made a crucial save against Fernandes in the dying moments to prevent a United win.

Fernandes continues to shine for United, being their top scorer with seven goals in the Premier League and leading in combined goals and assists with 14. While United struggled in the first half, their second-half performance showed improvement, giving head coach Ruben Amorim some hope.

The draw leaves Manchester United in 14th place in the league, reflecting their current struggles. Meanwhile, Arsenal’s inability to score and lack of a recognized striker have hindered their title challenge, as they focus more on securing a top-four finish for the Champions League.

Despite dominating possession with 68.2%, Arsenal managed only six shots on target from 17 attempts, often failing to break through United’s defense. They relied heavily on Raya to avoid defeat, who must share the blame for United’s first goal.

While Arsenal earned a point, it is unlikely to impact their title aspirations, which seem all but over as Liverpool takes the lead. The Gunners now need to find a way to replicate their impressive performance from earlier in the week in the Champions League, rather than the lackluster display seen here.
