Amorim Responds to Rashford’s Comments About a Potential Exit

Ruben Amorim, the head coach of Manchester United, has shared his thoughts on Marcus Rashford’s recent comments about being dropped from the team.

Amorim revealed that when he was a player, he would have talked to his manager instead of speaking out in the media. Rashford has expressed that he is “ready for a new challenge” after being left out of the squad for United’s 2-1 victory against Manchester City on Sunday.

Amorim confirmed that he is still deciding how to handle the forward, who is believed to be excluded from the lineup for Thursday’s Carabao Cup quarter-final against Tottenham. He stated, “I would speak with the manager,” when asked how he would have reacted in a similar situation.

Commenting on Rashford’s interview, Amorim said, “It’s hard to explain what I am going to do. I’m a little bit emotional. I need to prepare for the game and then we will see.” He emphasized the importance of focusing on the team rather than individual players.

Rashford reportedly did not travel with the team to London on Wednesday, while Alejandro Garnacho, also left out of the derby, did join the squad. Amorim acknowledged the difficulties of the situation, saying, “If I give too much importance, it will lead to big headlines.”

Despite speculation about Rashford’s future, Amorim expressed that he wants him to stay at Old Trafford. He urged Rashford to embrace the “biggest challenge” of proving himself at the club. However, he admitted, “I don’t control that,” and has not discussed Rashford’s long-term future with club executives.

Amorim also mentioned the recent leak of his team lineup, saying he would not investigate it further. “It’s more important for my players to go to a game with a clear idea,” he added.
