Amorim Praises Coaching Staff After United’s Penalty Win

Manchester United’s head coach, Ruben Amorim, praised three important members of his coaching staff after the team won a tense penalty shootout against Arsenal in the FA Cup. The match took place at Emirates Stadium, London and showed United’s strength and strategy.
United took the lead in the 52nd minute with a goal from Bruno Fernandes. However, the game changed when Diogo Dalot was sent off in the 61st minute for receiving a second yellow card. Just two minutes later, Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes scored to equalize.
In a crucial moment in the 72nd minute, Martin Odegaard missed a penalty for Arsenal. This allowed United to stay calm through extra time and into the shootout.
The coaching staff chose the penalty takers, selecting Joshua Zirkzee as the fifth kicker, while Leny Yoro and Lisandro Martinez took the third and fourth penalties.
Amorim felt confident in the choices made by his staff, saying, “I wasn’t worried because I believed we were going to win. The set pieces were handled very well today. Carlos (Fernandes), Andreas (Georgson), and Manuel (Ferro) did an excellent job picking the right players.”
The match had some controversy as United players were angry when referee Andrew Madley gave a penalty against Harry Maguire for a foul on Kai Havertz, even though there seemed to be little contact. The Video Assistant Referee was not used, as it was not available for this round of the tournament to keep things fair.
Looking back on the match, Amorim admitted the team faced challenges, especially after playing with ten men.
“When we score first, it gives us strength. We are getting better at handling tough situations, which is good for our team’s growth.” United now looks forward to their next game with more confidence.
