Africa’s Strongest Woman Urgently Seeks Funds for World Championship

Chido Maenzanise, recognized as Africa’s strongest woman, is asking for immediate financial help.

After winning the continental title, she has been invited to compete in the World Strongwoman Championship in Dubai.

The Zimbabwean athlete needs $15,000 (around R285,000) for travel, accommodation, and competition fees, with her departure on February 5

Supporters are concerned that without enough funding, she may not be able to represent Zimbabwe.

Temba P. Mliswa highlighted the urgent need for assistance on social media, explaining that Maenzanise is under pressure to secure the funds quickly.

APPEAL SOS: Zimbabwe’s strongwoman Chido Maenzanise has an urgent need for assistance. She conquered Africa and has now been invited for the World Competition in Dubai and is in need of US$15 000 (about R285 000) urgently to cover everything.”

“She is supposed to leave on 5 February so she needs to buy tickets as soon as possible.”

“For now I can give her US$2 000 (about R38 000) and this still leaves an urgent need for the balance.”

Recently, Maenzanise achieved her spot at the world championship at the Eastrand Strongest competition in South Africa on October 25, 2025.

Competing against 12 other athletes, she faced tough challenges, including the lever deadlift and vehicle push.

Reflecting on her victory, Maenzanise expressed pride in representing Zimbabwe. She felt motivated by the responsibility of being the only competitor from her country.

Following her win, she received congratulations from various sources, including Kyros Sports, which noted her global ranking of 21.

Although she has won recognition, her chance to participate in the world championship now depends on securing urgent funding, as many are calling for donations to meet the February deadline.
