The official cause of death has been listed as asphyxia due to drowning.

Warner rose to prominence in the 1980s for his portrayal of the only son in the Huxtable family on NBC’s The Cosby Show, a role he secured at the age of 14 after auditioning on the final day of the casting process.

The series aired from 1984 to 1992 and became a cultural touchstone, particularly within the African-American community.

Throughout his career, Warner remained reflective about the show’s legacy, particularly in light of later controversies surrounding its lead star, Bill Cosby.

In a 2021 interview, he acknowledged the divided public sentiment but emphasized the show’s positive influence on viewers and its role in shaping family representation on television.

Born in August 1970 in Jersey City, New Jersey, Warner was named in honor of civil rights leader Malcolm X and jazz pianist Ahmad Jamal. He began performing at a young age and studied at The Professional Children’s School in New York.

In 1986, Warner received an Emmy Award nomination and hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live, marking a significant milestone in his early career.
