19-year-old Domestic Worker Sentenced to 15 years for Attempting to Rape Employer (67)

A 19-year-old man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Rusape Magistrates’ Court after being convicted of attempting to rape a 67-year-old woman.

The incident took place on December 14, 2025, at around 6:00 PM.

The young man, who was working as a domestic helper for the victim, followed her into the bathroom while she was bathing.

He covered her eyes with one hand and tried to assault her. However, the victim fought back and threatened to hit him, which caused him to flee the scene.

The incident was reported to the police by the victim’s nephew, leading to the young man’s arrest.

The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe emphasized that those who commit sexual violence will be prosecuted and held accountable.
