100 Jobs Up for Grabs in Austria as Deutsch Connect Pushes ‘Ethical Migration’ Drive

100 Jobs Up for Grabs in Austria as Deutsch Connect Pushes ‘Ethical Migration’ Drive – A recruitment drive targeting African professionals for permanent jobs in Austria’s transport sector has been launched, with organisers promising fair and structured migration pathways.

Deutsch Connect, in partnership with Mansiontech, announced the initiative this week, saying it will recruit candidates from Africa and the diaspora for positions in Austria’s national railway and bus operations starting in 2026.

The programme is part of Deutsch Connect’s broader campaign promoting what it calls ethical, skills-based migration under the #BrainGainNotBrainDrain banner.

Founder of Deutsch Connect, Kumbirai Chipadza, said about 100 positions are available across technical and non-technical categories.

“This partnership demonstrates our commitment to creating ethical, fair migration pathways that provide Africans with meaningful career opportunities abroad while supporting skills development and international experience, rather than brain drain,” Chipadza said.

He added that the initiative is designed to ensure participants gain skills that can benefit both individuals and their home countries.

“Through initiatives like this, we enable talented professionals and graduates to contribute their skills globally, returning value to themselves, their communities, and the continent,” he said.

Chipadza said applicants without technical backgrounds would receive full training, while those with apprenticeships or prior experience would be placed accordingly.

He outlined that successful candidates would be offered permanent contracts with competitive salaries, paid 14 times per year, along with bonuses and professional development opportunities.

Other benefits include free train travel in Austria for workers and their families, as well as access to health programmes, childcare support and housing assistance.

However, Chipadza said applicants must meet strict requirements, including at least a German language certificate at B1 level with B2 required for most roles a clean criminal record and a valid passport.

“Candidates must also undergo recognition of their qualifications in Austria, hold a driver’s licence for most roles, and be willing to work shifts, including nights, weekends and public holidays,” he said.

Available positions include bus and train drivers, conductors, travel advisors, dispatchers and wagon inspectors, as well as skilled roles such as electricians, vehicle technicians and signal and safety specialists.

While the initiative opens up overseas employment opportunities, labour experts have previously urged that such programmes be closely monitored to ensure transparency and to safeguard workers against exploitation.
