Zimbabweans Flood Kendrick Lamar’s Fanpage Over Scarf Resemblance – A throwback picture of Kendrick Lamar from 2022 has sparked humorous reactions from Zimbabweans after it resurfaced on X under the handle @LoveIsBack24.
In the image, the rapper is seen wearing a scarf that bears colors strikingly similar to Zimbabwe’s national hues, a resemblance that immediately drew attention.
Lamar had worn the scarf during his visit to Ghana in 2022 as part of his album rollout for Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.

His trip was deeply cultural, involving documentary-style filming and aligning with Ghana’s Beyond the Return initiative, which promotes African heritage and the growing influence of hip-hop and Afrobeats.
However, for Zimbabweans, the scarf’s colors were all too familiar, reminding them of the signature accessory of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
The scarf has become a political symbol in Zimbabwe, closely associated with Mnangagwa’s leadership following the 2017 coup that ousted Robert Mugabe.
Over the years, the scarf designed by a Zimbo called Celia Rukato , has been used in fundraising efforts, including a 2019 auction where one reportedly fetched RTGS$250,000 for the national football team, the Warriors.
Another was auctioned a month earlier in the Midlands for US$4,500, according to New Zimbabwe.
Upon seeing Lamar’s scarf, Zimbabweans flooded the comments section with jokes and reactions:
