Zimbabwean Man On The Run After Driving Off With Luxury Mercedes-Benz Van In Cape Town

Zimbabwean Man On The Run After Driving Off With Luxury Mercedes-Benz Van In Cape Town – South African police have launched a search for a Zimbabwean man who allegedly used fake documents to rent a high-end Mercedes-Benz V300 Brabus in Cape Town before smuggling it across the border into Zimbabwe.
According to News24, the luxury van was hired from a Cape Town car rental company a few days ago.
The suspect reportedly paid an upfront fee of R200,000 to use the vehicle for five days.
However, he never returned it.

A representative from the rental company said they realised something was wrong when the vehicle’s tracking device suddenly went offline.
“This car was hired in Cape Town a couple of days ago, and the guy never returned it. The tracking device was removed. It is alleged that the vehicle crossed the border into Zimbabwe,” the company said.
Investigations later revealed that the same Mercedes-Benz V300 Brabus had surfaced in Zimbabwe, allegedly being advertised for sale.
Police believe the suspect removed the tracker shortly after leaving Cape Town to avoid detection.
Authorities in South Africa are now working with the rental company and cross-border partners to recover the vehicle and identify the suspect behind the elaborate fraud.
Police have urged anyone with information about the vehicle or the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward as the search intensifies.
