Zimbabwe Mourns the Death of Beloved Comedian Marabha – Tributes have flooded social media as fans and fellow entertainers mourn the loss of iconic comedian Charles Mapalume, affectionately known as Marabha.
The entertainer, who brought laughter to many through his performances alongside Kapfupi, died on the morning of April 19 at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital (formerly Harare Hospital).
News of his passing was first shared by popular radio personality Tafadzwa “Shugeta” Ben. In an emotional Facebook post, Shugeta confirmed Marabha’s death, though he did not disclose the cause.
“We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Brother and friend Charles Mapalume, who was also known as Marabha. Fly High, King,” he wrote.
Fellow content creator and former co-star, Regina, also paid tribute, expressing deep pain over his passing.
“Wandirwadzisa umwe wangu wandisiira rondapamoyo. May your soul rest in peace Marabha,” she wrote.
The news has triggered an outpouring of emotion across the country. In the comments section of Shugeta’s post, fans shared heartfelt messages, reflecting on the joy Marabha brought into their lives.
Many fondly recalled his iconic skits and comic timing.

Wendy Maps wrote, “It’s very sad, my G. May his soul rest in love. We will forever cherish the days he made us happy.” Another fan, Florence Mahachi, reminisced, “Marabha wavingei tea… You’re still in our childhood memories. RIP.”

Although gone, Marabha’s legacy in Zimbabwe’s comedy and entertainment scene will continue to live on in the hearts of many.
