ZRP Arrests Two Men for Unlawful Possession of Cough Syrups – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of two men on separate occasions for unlawful possession of drugs and cough syrups commonly associated with substance abuse.
In a statement posted on X, police said that on 30 December 2025, officers in Mutare acted on received information and arrested Johannes Ndarowa (41) at a car park in Sakubva.
He was found in possession of dagga, Broncleer Cough Syrup, Astra Pain Cough Syrup and Benylin Cough Syrup.

On the same day, police also arrested Ivan Gombere (36) at the three-kilometre peg along the Macheke–Murewa Road. He was aboard a Nissan AD van at the time of his arrest and was found in possession of the same substances.
ZRP said:
“On 30/12/25, Police in Mutare acted on received information and arrested Johannes Ndarowa (41) at a car park in Sakubva for unlawful possession of dagga, Broncleer Cough Syrup, Astra Pain Cough Syrup and Benylin Cough Syrup. Meanwhile, Ivan Gombere (36) was arrested at the three kilometre peg along Macheke-Murewa Road for unlawful possession of the same substances.”
